So I got some time on my hands. About a half an hour, anyways, class (yes, my super exciting intro to microcomputers) is going to start late... Not that that would have stopped my blogging. I can multitask like nobody’s business! So as I have alluded to I have returned to school. I am now an accounting student! This is exciting for me. But I am still in my heart a Bemidji State Alum. I studied poli sci there. It was a glorious five years and the city of Bemijdi has one gorgeous lake to call its own.
Since returning to school, I have done a lot of thinking about my Bemidji years. I miss the joint. I did a lot up there, and some awesome people. Like most people I was 18/19 that first year. I wish I could say that I decided on Bemidji because it was somewhere I was destined to be. Maybe it was, but honestly I can't say why I chose Bemidji. It hadn't been a lifelong goal or anything. But for some reason I applied, went to a college visit. Maybe that was the reason, I actually visited Bemidji. It was the only college visit I did. Got accepted in to Bemidji, and 2 of the other schools I applied too. The one that I, at the time, was thinking about UW-Superior, wait listed me. Then, once they got my ACT scores, I was in, but by then I had already said "screw you" and accepted Bemidji.
Now for those of you not familiar with Bemidji, it is a grand town in Northern Minnesota. It lies along the aptly named Lake Bemidji, a lake where the Mississippi runs through it. And it is just about 2 hours from anywhere. Seriously, 2 and a bit from Duluth, 2 and a bit from Grand Forks, 2 and a bit from Brainerd (which really isn't anywhere but is 2 and a bit from the twin cities), 2 and a bit from the Canadian border. And about 6.5 hours north of my hometown. And have I mentioned that it is flat, yep, very, very flat. There is a bit of a hill and technically there is a ski hill nearby. But having skied it, I call that into question.
Bemijdi's claim to fame, other that apparently some world class curling, is Paul Bunyan and Babe.
So in conclusion, I spent a wonderful 5 years in Bemidji and met my bestest friend in the whole wide world there. While I may never live there again, I would totally go back and visit the area all the time. I just got to get Grasshopper (my bestie) to take the 2 and a bit trek from Brainerd.
